The International Woodball Federation (“IWbF”) is the governing world body for the game of woodball, with members from the woodball associations and bodies from different countries. The IWbF establishes the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the game and also holds regular regional and World Cup Woodball Championships. Woodball is similar to golf with all the excitement and thrill, although this game is far less complicated to learn.
Woodball Association of India
Woodball India was established in the year 2002. The association develops both forms of the game.
Lawn Woodball
The original form of the game, played on grass. It can also be played indoors or on any open space, through the first to the twelfth fairway.
History of Woodball
Woodball was invented in 1990 by Mr. Ming-Hui Weng, he just want to build a garden for his father to take a walk and enjoy the beautiful view in the scenic spot Nei-Shuang-His, where situated in Shih-lin, Taipei City. After mowing the weeds of the hillside, he found that there were terraced fields there, which can be developed as an outdoor exercise place.
It flashed through his mind that he could make a good use of this garden by designing it as a ball-playing ground. Under such motive, he was trying to create a ball sport, in which the playing-ball would not fly up (appropriate to be played on the grass ground) and the sport itself should be economic (neither expensive nor large ground), so that he could invite more friends to enjoy the fun of playing ball in the green field. After two years’ experiment and adjustment, the equipment and the regulation of the ball game have emerged finally as they are today.
The International Woodball Federation (“IWbF”) is the governing world body for the Game of Woodball, with members from the Woodball Associations and bodies from different Countries.
The IWbF establishes the rules and regulations governing the conduct of the game and also holds regular Regional International and World Cup Woodball Championships.
Woodball is similar to golf with all the excitement and thrill, although this game is far less complicated to learn. It is said that the Woodball game is actually a cross between golf and the game of croquette. It is a lawn game but can still be played indoors or on any open spaces.
Woodball is not among the top popular sports like Cricket, Hockey, Tennis or Football where big corporate groups proactively participate in helping/join the sports with huge finances in their training and championships.
Woodball in India
Woodball sports started in India from the year 2002 by Mr. Ashish Deshmukh & Mr. Pravin Manwatkar under the banner of the Woodball Federation of India. In the year 2003 Late Mr. Ramesh Nikose (MLC), Mr. Ajay Sontakke & some members from various states of India formed the Woodball Association of India.
To promote & develop Woodball in India after discussions Woodball Federation of India merge with the Woodball Association of India. In 2003 Woodball Association of India getting affiliation from the International Woodball Federation & Asian Woodball Federation. Woodball Association of India is Government registered body along with 26 Affiliated State Associations & Union Territory of India.
The Indian Woodball Team first time participating in the 3rd Asian University Woodball Championship & 7th Malaysia Woodball International Open Championship Lanjut, Malaysia from 6–12 August 2003.
From 2003 to till time The Indian Woodball Team Participated in the 30th International Woodball Championships including all Major & Important Championship like World / Asian Universities, World Championship, Asian Championships & Asian Beach Games. In India we have a five International Referees & Two International Coaches.
Woodball India was established, under the banner of the Woodball Federation of India.
Woodball Association of India is formed and affiliated to the International and Asian Woodball Federation.
Indian team's first international appearance in Lanjut, Malaysia.
30 international championships, 26 affiliated state associations and union territories.
Rules & Regulations
Every player should complete the games through the first to the twelfth fairway (or as stipulated), and the final outcome is determined by the total stroke count in play.

Woodball Association of India Statement of Anti-doping Policy
Statement
Woodball Association of India (WbAI) has on 1 January 2021 signed the Collective Policy thereby agreeing to at all times:
- Recognise and accept the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) as the National Anti-Doping Organisation designated by the Indian Government as having the responsibility for all doping matters relating to sport in India.
- Accept the NADA Anti-Doping Policy and Anti-Doping Rules, both of which are established in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code, as the basis for the fight against doping in sport;
- Adopt the NADA Anti-Doping Rules either directly or by reference into our governing documents, constitution and/or rules and regulations, and which shall have binding force and effect on our members and Participants; and
- Agree to observe, abide by and implement the provisions of the NADA Anti-Doping Policy and Anti-Doping Rules in respect of our affairs and activities.
WbAI condemns the use of doping in sport. It recognises the right of all its Athletes to participate in a sport that is free from the misuse of drugs. WbAI is committed to educate, inform and test, as appropriate, participants competing in Woodball in India, and representing India, so that it remains a drug-free sport.
It is a requirement of participation in the sport that all its Athletes, Athlete support personnel and other persons under the jurisdiction of WbAI comply with the NADA Anti-Doping Policy and Anti-Doping Rules set out and published by WbAI and NADA.
In testing its Athletes, WbAI is committed to handling the management of results in a confidential and accountable manner and to carry out disciplinary procedures where appropriate by the fair and independent process it has agreed with its members and with NADA, its appointed National Anti-Doping Agency, for the collection of doping control samples. The disciplinary procedure for a contravention of these rules is published in full in the NADA Anti-Doping Rules.
Anti-doping rules
The Executive Committee / Management Committee of Woodball Association of India (WbAI) has on 1 January 2021 adopted the NADA Anti-Doping Policy as the Woodball Association of India’s Anti-Doping Policy. The NADA Anti-Doping Policy published, as amended from time to time, shall take immediate effect and be construed as rules of the Woodball Association of India.
Application of anti-doping rules
All affiliates, members, athletes, participants, staff and any other individual, paid or on a volunteer basis, who are under the jurisdiction of the Woodball Association of India are bound by the Anti-Doping Rules of the Woodball Association of India and agree to abide by these Anti-Doping Rules.
